Philadelphia-via-Jersey producer Zubeyda Muzeyyen, a.k.a. DJ Haram, today shared her uproarious soundtrack for NYC fashion label Chromat's Fall/Winter 2017 runway show. The event took place this past Friday night, and found Muzeyyen picking up where previous Chromat runway DJs ABBY and Joey LaBeija left off with a fierce yet playful selection. The mix is relatively light on melody and heavy on skittering percussive maneuvers, with an impressively raw, rough-around-the-edges directness."This mix is meant to amp up but also soothe at the same time," she said. "Something to listen to when you know you're about to get in a fight. I like how Chromat referred to the new collection in this utilitarian way, I imagined seeing them in a future army surplus store. I wanted to think about the soundscape the same way with less distracting vocals, more of the sounds I think are good processing and healing tools—layers of drums, loud bass."Chromat's show, which was part of New York Fashion Week, also featured a performance from Jersey club queen UNIIQU3 performing her new song "Werk Ya Bawdy." The track also features as the second song in DJ Haram's mix.
