This Might Be Our Favorite Track From the Aus Label, Ever

Check out an addictive track from Midland's forthcoming EP, which drops next week via Will Saul's prolific house imprint.

It's hard to pick a favorite release from a label like Aus, which has sponsored records helmed by the likes of Joy Orbison, Komon, Leon Vynehall, SCB, Sei A, Appleblim, Ramadanman, and many other pillars of contemporary dance nirvana—but Midland's "Pitch Drift" is definitely up there. The track, which is embedded above, is an exercise in restraint. It takes over 90 seconds for a kick drum to set in, and another 90 seconds for the bass to drop, so for the first three minutes, it feels like UK producer Midland is withholding satisfaction. It's a long buildup, but it's totally worth it, as soon enough, synth lines extend and bend over the warmest low end tones, fidgeting percussion, and pulsing pads. Catch it here before Midland's Dusted EP drops next week.
