Timelines: MK

Started in the '90s now he's here.

A DJs career can span decades, outlasting technological advances, new genres and presidential terms. But in a world of endless SoundCloud updates and one-off remixes, career-defining moments are often lost in the fray. Here, we take you through the highlights. This week's subject: MK

Marc Kinchen, known to the world as MK, is a Detroit-born DJ and producer who first came onto the scene in the early 90s as a remixer of piano-tickled house music. By the time he was 20, MK had shot right through to the top of the Billboard Dance/Club charts, quickly making a name for himself as a young producer with some serious skills. After half a decade of success as a house producer/DJ, he moved to Los Angeles for the next wave of his career, producing records for everyone from Rihanna to Will Smith. After nearly ten years away from the EDM spotlight, MK has stormed back into our hearts and minds and has returned to what he loves most—house music.
