Miami Beach Bowl Ends In Massive Brawl

BYU and Memphis brawl at the conclusion of the Miami Beach Bowl. It had it all: bloodied faces, sucker punches, and kicking and screaming.

BYU lost to Memphis 55-48 in double overtime at the Miami Beach Bowl and it quickly devolved into madness. The game ended on an interception and as Memphis rushed the field to celebrate, a massive brawl broke out. It was a back-and-forth game, with BYU mounting a pair of comebacks to take the lead midway through the fourth quarter, but then Memphis came back to force OT in the final seconds. Memphis scuffled on it's overtime possession but still forced double overtime with a booming 55-yard field goal.

Memphis took the lead on an 11-yard touchdown pass and sealed it with an interception on BYU's next possession. Things went south almost immediately and individual scrums developed on the field. At one point, a bloodied BYU defensive back, Kai Nacua, threw a sucker punch, but he wasn't the only one. Punches were thrown all over the place and some players were kicking and stomping on others while coaches and god knows who else tried to control the situation. Chances are you were pleasantly surprised by the Miami Beach Bowl—a game you were only watching because you could—before it turned into a total shitshow.
