Vermont senator-turned-presidential candidate-turned-YA author Bernie Sanders stopped by the Late Show Thursday night to talk about his new book—but wound up talking more about Hillary Clinton's book, instead.Clinton's new book about her failed presidential run, What Happened, spends a fair amount of page space throwing shade at Bernie Sanders and blaming him for causing "lasting damage" to her campaign. On Thursday, Sanders had a chance to respond and dismissed the idea that he was the big reason that a guy most Americans think is "prejudiced" and "selfish" lives in the White House now."Secretary Clinton ran against the most unpopular candidate in the history of this country and she lost," the Vermont senator told Colbert. "She was upset about it and I understand that. But our job is really not to go backwards. It is to go forwards.""We have got to think going forward," Sanders continued. "I would like her to join us in a fight for 15, in a Medicare-for-all single-payer system, in taking on the fossil fuel industry so that we transform our energy system away from fossil fuel and move to energy efficient and sustainable energy."Sanders finally left Colbert with a few talking points to discuss with Clinton when she drops by the Late Show for an interview later this month. "Let's not keep arguing about 2016," he said. "Let's get together, take on Trump's desire to divide us up, let's go forward with a progressive agenda.
