There Are 44 NFL Players Who Have Been Accused of Sexual or Physical Assault

In the past few years, multiple news stories involving NFL players accused of sexual assault or domestic violence have received widespread attention. As isolated incidents, such allegations are deeply disturbing.

*rapey
adjective | \ˈrāp-ē\

: having or showing sexually aggressive behavior that causes the discomfort of others
: exhibiting or indicative of a lack of concern or understanding of consent of another in regard to intimate contact
: having or showing qualities that make others feel sexually vulnerable or unsafe class

When we celebrate these men as athletes and role models while overlooking their alleged histories, we contribute to a culture in which violent misogyny is normalized. To combat that, we are focusing on their alleged histories. As such, we have listed the sexual assault or sexual misconduct allegations against NFL players in our Rapey* Roster, and the domestic violence and violence against women allegations in our Domestic Violence/Violence Against Women Depth Chart.

According to the NFL's own Personal Conduct Policy, "it is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime. We are all held to a higher standard and must conduct ourselves in a way that is responsible, promotes the values of the NFL, and is lawful." Therefore, in Broadly's NFL Report, we've included incidents prior to players being drafted into the league, cases in which charges have been dropped, and those concerning a broader range of troubling behaviors toward women, in order to provide readers with all of the information necessary to decide if the NFL is living up to its own, self-imposed higher standards of conduct.
