Rachel Dolezal's Birth Chart Predicted She Would Be Outed as Biologically White

Though there is no exact birth time or date for Rachel Dolezal, much can be gleaned about her recent experiences based on the data that is given on what she says is her birth certificate: November 12, 1977. Assuming that is her correct birthday—who can be sure of anything when it comes to this mysterious Scorpio?—let's take a look at the astrological transits Rachel experienced this past spring.

Once a year, transiting Mercury will oppose the natal Mercury. The occurrence happens frequently, so few astrologers view the combination as life changing. This year for Rachel Dolezal, however, Saturn—the planet of responsibility and "shit hitting the fan"—was at zero degrees Sagittarius, very close to Rachel's natal Mercury at four Sagittarius.

Objectivity is a theme we might associate with transiting Mercury opposite the natal Mercury, and Rachel is, objectively, not black, according to most of America. To Rachel and her loved ones, though, the truth is very different. With Saturn (the planet of responsibility and restriction) involved in this lineup, Rachel's outing raised questions about her legitimacy and integrity. Communication, news, and logic are themes tied to Mercury, while confrontation is one tied to the opposition. She was obviously confronted with what other people found logical quite a bit during this time period, and people were really eager to hear her explain herself. Keeping with the themes around news and responsibility, it also makes sense that she learned of her pregnancy during this time.

Rachel was born with the North Node in Libra conjoined Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, which suggests she feels a very strong calling—a sense of destiny, even—around teaming up with people (Libra) to effect change in society (Pluto). Opposite the North Node and our "destiny," though, is always the South Node, which is all about our past. An explosive situation around her past was bound to happen: Uranus, the planet of surprise and explosion, is by transit on her South Node. As the Moon passed though the South Node, Uranus (in Fire sign Aries) struck the match that created the explosion around her past and family history. To top it off, Pluto—a planet that can be rather scandalous; it's associated with the underworld and shady behavior—was also square (one of the tensest aspects in astrology) the North and South Node, adding further pressure to the situation. If Rachel indeed has Virgo rising, the pressure would have been "released" into the tenth house, which is the house of the public, which makes sense considering how public this situation was.

During the time she was caught, there was a Mercury retrograde in Gemini, a sign many associate with duplicity and doubles. Archetypes will express themselves in multiple ways through their transits: During this particular retrograde, we met Caitlyn Jenner, a self Bruce Jenner hadn't been able to share with the world, and we met Rachel Dolezal, for whom astrology played out in a completely different way as her protective mask was removed.

Jenner's interview with Diane Sawyer premiered on April 24, 2015, followed by Jenner's two-night Keeping Up with the Kardashians special about her transition on May 17 and 18. The Mercury retrograde in Gemini began on May 18; Gemini is the sign of the twins and duality, and retrogrades are all about reviewing the past. Soon after, Rachel Dolezal began making headlines, and Caitlyn Jenner appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair.

Mercury is the planet of logic and communication, but also of truth. During this Mercury retrograde, we saw two individuals with two very different faces, who were revealed to the public in two very different ways.
