Early December isn’t without it’s struggles: The planet of war, Mars, opposes Uranus on December 1, which will bring some unexpected confrontations over everything from a crush to a creative project to an idea you were exciting about sharing with the world.

Mercury retrograde begins in Sagittarius on December 2, or 3 if you’re on the East Coast, finding you running into friends from your past. Mercury retrograde has a bad reputation; however, there are affective ways to work with the energy: focus on old projects instead of starting new ones, and slow down and make time to unwind.

Mercury retrograde is a shitty time to sign contracts, travel (delays!), have important conversations (miscommunications!) or buy expensive equipment (technical difficulties!). But Mercury retrograde is a fantastic excuse for running late, so at least there’s that. You’re going to be so busy socializing and ducking from drama early this month, you’ll need all the excuses you can get. Mercury retrograde ends on December 22.

A full moon in fellow Air sign Gemini arrives on December 3, illuminating the romance and creativity sector of your chart—and bringing plenty of drama, as full moons do. Again, confrontations will arise, and you can bet plenty of talk will go down, as Gemini is a sign that doesn’t really ever shut up— and, on that note, neither does Sagittarius, the sign the Sun is currently in. Expect to be tired, feel weepy, and to take part in some heavy conversations; full moons are a time for release, and people are going to get everything out at this time.

The winter solstice marks the beginning of Capricorn season on December 21, finding you winding down from all the partying you didn’t during Sagittarius season, and needing to retreat— it’s time to catch up on rest and spend some time alone. The Sun will meet with Saturn on December 21 as well, putting you in a serious mood.

Venus enters Capricorn on December 25, putting you in a more private mood about Venusian themes, such as love and money. You may even feel so private that perhaps a secret affair will come your way!
