Aries, March 2017

There is a new moon in your sign this month, Aries, and the sun enters your sign as well!

March opens with the Sun in Pisces, illuminating the sector of your chart that rules solitude and rest, but believe me, March will be anything but sleepy. Venus will retrograde in your sign, and Jupiter picks on not one but two planets, Uranus and Pluto, promising plenty of action in your relationships this month. Let's look at how it will unfold.

Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion, and it's in Libra, the sign opposite you on the zodiac wheel. This is great news for your relationships (romantic or professional) because lucky planet Jupiter brings blessings wherever it goes. But it's also the planet of exaggeration and overdoing, so when it clashes with another planet, the outcome is over the top.

On March 2, Jupiter will challenge Uranus, the planet of rebellion and revolution. Uranus is about freedom and independence, and it's in your sign, Aries, which has been making your life exciting. But things could get a little too exciting early this month. Sure, Jupiter is bringing luck to your relationships as it travels through Libra, but during this intense planetary opposition, you'll be anxious to break free from obligations—you'll want to be free to be able to do what you want, whenever you want, with whoever you want.

Being tied down will drive you nuts. Space in relationships is the best way to go, for everyone's happiness. This doesn't need to mean a breakup—but it can. What it means is being open to new ideas and not limiting yourself. Some interesting alliances could also form—you'll be surprised by who you end up partnering with and what the terms of the arrangement will be!

Rethinking your values in relationships is a theme this month, especially thanks to Venus beginning its retrograde in your sign on March 4. You're reimagining who you want to be and how you want to be seen. Do you feel sexy, loved, and appreciated? This is on your mind, and you're taking it seriously. Changing your look is something you'll likely do, but perhaps don't do anything permanent until after Venus is done with its retrograde on April 15.

Venus will briefly dip into Water sign Pisces on April 2, which will be emotional for you, little ram, but also cathartic—an opportunity to examine your desires, release the past, and embrace transformation. But we'll talk more about the Pisces end of this retrograde next month. For now, think back to March and April of 2009—similar themes will come up. And, as usual with a retrograde, don't be surprised if you run into people from your past!

Your ruling planet, Mars, is in your sign, imbuing you with plenty of power and confidence (like you can even be more heroic than you already are). Mars will connect with Saturn in fellow Fire sign Sagittarius on March 5. This will create a super supportive atmosphere, Aries, especially if you are traveling, in school, or trying to get something published or out into the world.

Mars will enter luxurious Earth sign Taurus on March 9 and will activate the financial sector of your chart, so expect to feel driven to acquire fancy things and, believe it or not, to reflect on concepts like security and safety—you know, boring things that are never on your mind.

Do you feel sexy, loved, and appreciated? This is on your mind, and you're taking it seriously.

You're ready for that bigger paycheck, and you're willing to fight for it! Mars is the planet of war, and even though Taurus has a peaceful, even lazy, reputation, we all know bulls are scary as fuck when they're focused and mad. You don't have the longest attention span, but Mars in Taurus will give you the stamina you need to earn your riches.

A full moon in Virgo arrives on March 12, illuminating the sector of your chart that's all about your routines and rituals, your health and habits, and your day job. These things might sound mundane, but I promise, Aries, a full moon is never boring. A climax will be reached, a lesson will be taught, and an understanding will be had. This is a great time to take a ritual bath or cast a spell to support you as you slay bad habits and get shit done.

Mercury and Saturn clash today, making your commute difficult and bringing on some arguments. Expect to run into people who think they know better than you. Pay close attention to your intuition, Aries. Today could be annoying, but the outcome of today's events will indicate how well you trust your intuition!

Communication planet Mercury enters your sign, Aries, on March 13, helping you express yourself and sharpening your mental acuity, soon followed by the Sun, on March 20, which means it's Aries season! Happy spring equinox; the celestial spotlight is on you! And a fresh start is on the way: A new moon in Aries arrives March 27. This will be interesting: Your ruling planet, Mars, will also mingle with dreamy Neptune, which means you'll be intuitive as hell!

A climax will be reached, a lesson will be taught, and an understanding will be had.

Not that I need to remind you to do this, Aries, but put yourself first. Electric Uranus reminded you in the beginning of the month to free yourself from obligations, and now, during the new moon in Aries, it's time for you to check in with your emotions, focus on what you want your life to look like, and start fresh. You have the tools. You just need to have faith and trust your gut.

Jupiter will square (an intense astrology aspect) to Pluto in Capricorn on March 30, a day you will want to circle in your calendar. Again, Jupiter is in Libra, your opposite sign, which means big things are happening in your relationships—but the clash with Pluto tells us that intense changes are on the way. Pluto is the planet of transformation—not easy, lovely, peaceful transformation, but bulldozing-a-city-block transformation. Something's going to have to shift, but be careful not to act out of fear; keep obsessive thoughts in check.

Your philosophy on relationships will be tested, and power dynamics will become apparent. If things have been shaky in your partnerships (again, this is any kind of partnership, not just romantic), the clash between Jupiter and Pluto will push things over the edge.

The month wraps up with Mercury entering Taurus on March 31, joining Mars and activating the financial sector of your chart. Mercury is the planet of information and communication, so—while it's in luxury-loving Taurus—you can bet on conversations about worth, value, stuff, and security. (Taurus is all about stability.) After so many changes this month, it makes sense that these issues will be on your mind! See you in April, Aries!
