Aries, October 2015

September was a wild month. In comparison, October is much easier, but it's not without some juicy, intense situations for you to experience…

In our monthly horoscopes, we provide a more in depth look at what's happening in the sky. If you are not a Aries and/or don't care about Arieses, you can read the rest of our monthly horoscopes here.

September was a wild month. We had two eclipses; the first bit of a Mercury retrograde; and Saturn shifting signs, entering fellow Fire sign Sagittarius and beginning a new two-year journey for you. While Saturn is in Sag, you can expect to deal a lot with themes involving travel and exploration, expansion of your mind via higher learning, exploration into spirituality or the legal system, and examining your ideologies. In comparison, October is much easier, but it's not without some juicy, intense situations for you to experience…

Mars (your ruling planet) in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces on October 6. I don't want to call you one of the most decisive signs, Aries, since that makes it sound like there's a method to your madness. There isn't; you're just impulsive (and intuitive, you trust your instincts and you just go, sparkling like the Fire baby you are). On October 6, however, you'll feel way less assertive. This opposition between Mars in cautious Virgo and hazy, confusing Neptune in dreamy Pisces will leave you feeling a little stumped, unsure of what direction to go in.

Perhaps this pause will do you good—or maybe you'll have a mini breakdown. It's very, very rare that you're unsure of yourself and the direction you want to go in, but here you'll be in early October, feeling a little dazed and confused. Mars wants to take action, while Neptune, a spiritual and artistic energy, wants to meditate. Virgo wants to do things right, while Pisces wants to see how things will turn out. Where will you fall in the middle of all this, Aries? Hopefully, right in the middle is where you can go: "Meeting in the middle" is always a good way to work an opposition!

Venus enters Virgo on October 8, adding more grounding, stabilizing energy to your life—which you totally need. The eclipses last month were tough and tiring for you, especially the eclipse on September 27. Venus into Virgo will be awesome for you in terms of creating a beneficial routine for yourself, especially around your day job, your chores, and your health routine. Healthy habits that will improve your life materially, financially, and physically are on their way. But, of course, this will only happen if you make an effort toward it. If you don't, you might find that Venus in Virgo is inspiring you to feel a little insecure about what other people's lives are like compared to yours.

I'm not saying you'll be jealous—Aries people are never jealous! When you meet someone you admire, you figure out what that person's doing to make her life work so well. Aries is the baby of the zodiac, and while that does mean you can be a brat, it also means that you're pretty good at mimicking the people around you in order to get the best results. So, this month, Aries, if you find yourself feeling insecure about someone else's accomplishments, bring it right back to you: Why do you feel you can't achieve what they've achieved? Solve that problem instead of feeling awkward around someone who could become a potential ally.

Relationship miscommunications and other "me vs. them" situations begin moving forward when Mercury leaves retrograde in the sign of partnership, Libra, on October 9. Retrogrades are times to reflect, rethink, redo. Really, any "re-" is appropriate for retrogrades, and from September 17 to October 9, you were re-ing your partnerships. Did you make a judgment about someone in the past that you've since changed your mind about? Did you reconnect with an old friend? The last time Mercury was retrograde in Libra was October 2014—do you see any connections between this time period and then?

Just because Mercury's all chatty and forward thinking/speaking/moving, that doesn't mean you should immediately jump into action: Venus squares Saturn on October 10. Venus desires, whereas Saturn creates obstacles. Don't expect to get what you want on this date. Instead, take more time to think about your wants and needs, and don't be afraid to get really critical about things. Venus is Virgo, so now's exactly the right time to get really real and really honest with yourself about what is (and more importantly, what isn't) important to you. Things probably won't work out today, so save your energy.

Instead, "go for it" the next day. On October 11, Jupiter trines Pluto. This is a lucky and powerful combination, which for you should bode especially well for your reputation and your career (both your day job and your long-term goals). In addition, this will have a positive impact on your relationships as well: People will view you as responsible, grounded, and savvy if you ride this celestial wave well.

Also on your side this October 11 is the Sun opposite Uranus, which happens to be happening in your sign. True, this is a combustible energy that could lead to a relationship or two blowing up in your face, but that's only if you behave erratically—or like an asshole. Otherwise, I suspect this combination will bring you face-to-face with some novel, inventive ways to solve the problems in your life and your relationships. Try something new, hear out all sides, and don't be afraid to take a risk.

The New Moon in Libra on October 12 will really clear out a lot of the stressful energy that accumulated during the Mercury retrograde (September 17 through October 9), planting new seeds in your relationships. If you're hoping for a fresh start between you and someone you care about (or even someone you can't stand), today's a great day to act on those intentions. Between the eclipses in September and the Mercury retrograde earlier this month, you may have felt like you didn't have much power in your hands. This will all shift a few days after the New Moon; on October 15, your ruling planet, Mars, in practical, grounded Virgo, trines Pluto, the planet of power, in Capricorn. You'll be unbeatable on this day! Life's been rough lately, but mid October sees a sharp turn, with you returning to your fiery, confident, optimistic self. No longer a shivering ram, shaken by the celestial events of late September and early October, you'll stand proudly with your golden fleece shining in the autumn sun!

Your power and confidence continues to bloom when Mars meets Jupiter—both in Virgo—on October 17. Jupiter creates abundance, and Mars, the warrior, is your ruling planet: These two energies hanging out together can only mean good things for you. Sure, whenever we see Jupiter, we know people could have a tendency to overdo things, but you're a self aware ram, and you read your horoscope so you can know what to expect ahead of time. Well, here you go, dear Aries: Rein yourself in on the 17th. Think through all your actions. Mars is in Virgo, a sign that doesn't do anything unless it triple checks that everything is in the right place. Embrace this vibe and you'll be unstoppable! This combination will be especially fab concerning the "everyday" things in life, like your day job and money or health and fitness (things like quitting smoking or biting your nails will be great to address today).

The Sun enters Scorpio October 23, adding a touch of mystery to your life. Scorpio is the sign of endings and transformation, and we can see its effects clearly in nature: leaves changing color, the sun staying out less and less each day. What are you ready to shed or transform in your life, Aries? The Sun in Scorpio is also a wonderful time to reconnect with yourself spiritually and sexually. Not only is your intuition extra sharp, but your desire to merge (physically and emotionally) is very strong at this time. If you're not enjoying some awesome sex at the end of the month, then please ask yourself why. Unless, of course, you're not in the mood—which is totally fine, too!

Venus meets Jupiter, again in Virgo, on October 25, bringing an extra dash of love and luck around your mundane activities (you know, all that health and wealth stuff we were just talking about). Plus, the Full Moon in Taurus on October 27 brings more attention on the sexy Scorpionic stuff also in the air at the end of the month. Taurus is about what you value, while Scorpio's concerned with what we value. Taurus has, Scorpio, the intense, passionate sign of sex and merging, shares. At the end of the month, ask yourself what's been illuminated to you around your values and what you're willing to share. And ask yourself if you're satisfied with what others are sharing with you.

We think of Libra, the sign of scales, as being concerned with fairness, but the truth is that Taurus and Scorpio are really the axis of fairness: One wants (the lazy, grass-chewing cow), and one takes (the stinging scorpion). The energy of these two signs combined demands an examination of fairness, of give and take in relationships, of personal space and physical or emotional closeness. Check in with your feelings about all this at the end of the month. What does closeness mean to you? What are you sharing with whom, and is it enough? September was a life-changing month, and, while October is a little calmer, it's still very intense and exciting, Aries!
