Aries, September 2015

Life after an eclipse is never quite like life before one, and we have two eclipses coming in September. Get ready for some major, deep life changes this month, Aries!

In our monthly horoscopes, we provide a more in depth look at what's happening in the sky. If you are not an Aries and/or don't care about Aries, you can read the rest of our monthly horoscopes here.

Mars, the Roman warrior god—who also happens to be your planetary ruler, Aries—is all about the chase. And what do we chase? Love, beauty, happiness, peace, harmony, justice… oh yeah, and definitely money. These themes happen to all be ruled by Venus, goddess of love, who Mars chases all around the zodiac. They'll finally meet on September 1, but will Mars and Venus find happily ever after?

Will you, dear Aries, find happiness when you finally meet your love? Or when you win that job? Or lose that weight? We've all got a bit of Mars in us, but for you, Aries, Mars' motions are an extra special occasion since it's your ruling planet. We're familiar with want and desire, but, as well all know, getting what you want doesn't always make you happy. I'm sure you learned this lesson a long time ago. And might learn it again on September 1.

Mars and Venus are both in Leo, a dramatic, passionate Fire sign, so there will certainly be some fireworks when these two meet on the 1; however, Venus is still retrograde (and has been since July 25 of this year). Mars may catch Venus, but Venus feels deflated and wistful while she's retrograde in lux Leo. This combination will be satisfying on some level for you, Aries: Yes! You did win, your reached your goals—but your prize isn't quite what you thought it would be. You'll especially notice this play out in your creative efforts and in your love life. Venus turns direct on September 6, so you can expect some forward movement around these themes then. The Mars and Venus story isn't over either: They'll meet again on November 3, in the sign of service and purity, Virgo, at which time you'll be less concerned with playing and creating, and your focus will be much more focused on health, your day-to-day schedule, and productivity.

On September 8, Mars in Leo trines Uranus, the planet of rebellion and revolution, in your sign. This is a fantastic, energetic, lively combination, one that should lift your spirits after such a long and terribly boring summer with Venus retrograde in Leo. Whenever any planet contacts Uranus in a positive way (which a trine certainly is), we know we can expect flashes of inspiration, electricity in the air, and plenty of surprises. Uranus is the life hack planet, making things simultaneously easier and cooler (but I guess that depends on whether or not you think nerdy shit like life hacks are cool, Aries). Anyway, Mars and Uranus create this electric, unfuckwithable energy, and you will really notice this, both in terms of your self esteem and the way that you interact with the world. You'll also feel this energy creatively and in your love life (yes, I am repeating myself, and yes, September 8 could offer some solution, a life hack if you will, to the issues you dealt with earlier this month on the 1).

There are two eclipses this month, both of which will have a profound effect on you (that's sort of eclipses' thing, being profound). Eclipses bring beautiful, amazing new experiences to our lives, and they dramatically, drastically cut off old shit that's no longer working for us. Eclipses feel fated, intense, powerful, and magical. There's a New Moon solar eclipse on September 13 in Virgo, which will bring in all sorts of new stuff into your life concerning the your health and habits. You might meet someone who will help you organize your life and business. Forget spring-cleaning—this eclipse will whip your place into shape: Fall cleaning will be a major theme. This is the wrong eclipse to be disorganized or irresponsible under: You will lose your privileges and generally have a miserable time if your shit isn't together. If you're starting a business or simply feeling really inspired about getting organized or healthy, this is a wonderful, scary, powerful time to get going on it. We have another eclipse later this month, but let's get the mid-month news out of the way first.

September 17 will be insane with Mercury retrograde kicking off in your opposite sign, Libra; Saturn entering fellow Fire sign Sagittarius; and Jupiter in down-to-earth Virgo opposing Neptune in dreamy Pisces. Mercury retrogrades are frustrating, but you can totally use them to your advantage: They are excellent times to reflect and renegotiate, and this September, you'll be doing this a lot with your relationships, be they romantic, professional, or social. You'll likely find yourself reconsidering or renegotiating some commitments or agreements. Think back to last October, 2014. Mercury was retrograde in Libra at that time as well—are any of the same themes repeating?

The Jupiter/Neptune opposition should be interesting. Both of these planets are highly philosophical and expansive, so when they clash, we end up confronting delusions and exaggerations. Aries, you may find that there's some way you're shooting yourself in the foot that you're finally able to see clearly. You may also discover some habit that's tripping you up around health or your routine.

The biggest news on September 17 is that Saturn will be entering Sagittarius, where it will stay until December 2017. Saturn is the taskmaster of the zodiac, a difficult but rewarding planet to work with. Sagittarius is the sign of exploration, philosophy, and fun. Seeing how Saturn, the scrooge of the zodiac, manages being in the sign of the party animal will certainly be interesting. Saturn briefly entered Sagittarius on December 23, 2014 until June 14, 2015: This time period acts as a little preview for what you will be working on in your life for the next two years or so.

Themes you'll be working with, Aries, are travel and possibly living abroad, continuing or going back to school, and even publication—if you're hoping to get yourself out there, you totally could, but, as always with Saturn, you have to behave maturely and responsibly. Saturn's like a grouchy grandparent who hates kids… but, if you're quiet, well-behaved, and can act like a proper little citizen, they'll leave you the house and all the money. Saturn won't bake you any cookies while you do your chores, but it will leave you a million dollars when the goal's been completed.

The Sun enters Libra on September 23, marking the beginning of Fall, the equinox… the Sun is now in the opposed part of the zodiac as it was when you born. Pretty cool, right, Aries? The Sun in Libra is all about harmony and balance—as you'll notice, day and night are equal today—and this need for peace will manifest in your relationships. The next day, September 24, your ruling planet, Mars, enters Virgo, giving you an extra boost in energy. You'll find it easy to work on all that day-to-day health and organizational stuff this month's earlier eclipse inspired you to tackle. But watch out for stressful communication today, especially concerning your work, your reputation, and the people you partner with. No worries, though: Pluto, the planet of power (and power struggles) will go direct the next day, September 25, bringing some forward motion to any disagreements, especially the ones that concern your career or the spotlight.

There's a Full Moon lunar eclipse in your sign, Aries, that wraps up the month on September 27. Eclipses are super intense, so to have one in your sign, with the spotlight on you, is a pretty big deal. Be super gentle on yourself. You will probably want to take some time off, so do cash in your vacation days if they are available. So much is changing around who you are, Aries—this eclipse could bring on a little bit of a crisis around identity. This will have a domino effect in your life: Now that the eclipse has shown you you, you're not too sure what to make of your partners, either.

Expect major drama in your love life, but I'm crossing my fingers that this drama will be the fun kind, with you being swept off your feet and horses and carriages, or whatever fantastical shit Disney is doing these days. Issues around independence and autonomy will also be major. Your appearance and the way you present yourself may also go under a huge change—the way you looked when the ruler of love and beauty, Venus, was retrograde may totally, completely change by the end of the month, after the eclipses have given you a new glow.

Mars is always chasing something, as are you. It's the way life is. This month, Aries, embrace balance—try chasing organization and healthy habits. You're great at setting goals for yourself, so this month you could totally slay everything on your to-do list. Eclipses have a grand feeling about them, they act kinda like book ends: Life after an eclipse is never quite like life before one. Get ready for some major, deep life changes this month, Aries!
