On January 6, 2011, Fred Davis allegedly assaulted a 33-year-old woman named Makini R. Chaka while they were at a nightclub in Washington, DC, according to a subsequent civil complaint filed by Chaka. In an action for a Permanent Stay Away Order obtained by Broadly, Chaka alleged that Davis, "approached [her] twice with the intentions of physically assaulting and verbally attacking her." The first time, according to Chaka's pre-trial statement, Davis approached her "grabbing her wrist and using profane language." The second time, Davis "dumped flasks of juice on her head" and then "threw the flask at her mouth," which caused visible injury.

On February 11, 2011, Judge Laura Cordero granted Chaka a temporary restraining order against Davis.

Following the alleged assault, Davis violated the restraining order granted to Chaka and interfered with her business—providing concierge and broker services to celebrities—by telling nightclub owners that Chaka is a "pimpette" who "procures prostitutes for professional athletes," according to her civil complaint.

In his response to the alleged violation of the restraining order, Davis denied that he had made contact with Chaka and denied claims of defamation. Davis also denied Chaka's initial claims regarding the assault. In her ruling, Judge Laura Cordero said that video evidence from the night of the incident revealed that Davis purposefully threw a carafe at Chaka in the club. Davis was ordered to pay Chaka nearly $20,000 in damages.

On July 24, 2014, Fred Davis was arrested and charged with one count of simple assault stemming from an incident that occurred with his ex-girlfriend at a restaurant in Washington, DC.

According to a police report obtained by Broadly, Davis walked up from behind his ex-girlfriend while she was eating with a man and forcefully turned her toward him. Davis "placed his hands on her shoulder, turned her around approximately 180 degrees so that her backside was facing [the man she was with]." He then stated to the man, "Why you with her? She doesn't have an ass."

According to the police report, the alleged victim then walked outside the restaurant and Davis followed. He allegedly grabbed a handful of dirt and flowers from a hanging plant box and threw them at her. Later, when they went back inside the restaurant, Davis told his ex-girlfriend he was going to "slap [her] 'cause [she was] fakin'" and that the man she was with "looks like 2 Chainz."

Davis pleaded not guilty and prosecutors dropped the charges due to insufficient evidence.

In February 2014, Davis was suspended indefinitely from the Washington Redskins for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was reinstated in May 2015 and signed with the New England Patriots four days later. In June 2015, Davis was released from the Patriots.

Davis did not return Broadly's request for comment.
