Scorpio, June 2018

Welcome to Gemini season!

illustrated by Nicole Ginelli

Welcome to Gemini season, Scorpio! You and Gemini are the two most maligned signs in the zodiac. But neither of you are really that bad when it comes down it. Sure, Gemini has a reputation for being two-faced and gossipy, while you, Scorpio, are known for being manipulative and venomous.

However, these characteristics are ones that belong to people who have been hurt or in pain, and they don’t speak to the truth of who someone is or what their potential could be—and if any sign can look beneath the surface to find potential, it’s you. (If you’re one of the many people who’ve whined about Geminis, please consider that perhaps they’re not two-faced, but rather torn: They’re the sign of duality, and as such, they’re frequently are put in positions where they have to learn how to juggle, choose, or discern. And as for gossiping? They’re the sign of communication, and let’s be real, you love gossip as much as they do, so whatever!)

The first weekend of June will be fun. Sweet, sexy Venus will connect with lucky Jupiter on June 1 and with dreamy Neptune on June 2, creating a beautiful, inspiring, and generous energy. This is a wonderful weekend to travel or go on an adventure. If you’re making art or playing a show, it will go smoothly and you’ll have plenty of fun. This is a wonderful weekend for romance; if you’re spending time with friends, you can expect to make some deep connections and to have a heart-opening experience.

Enjoy this weekend while you can, because the following week kind of sucks: Venus opposes the planet of the underworld, Pluto, on June 5, and communication planet Mercury squares off with Neptune on June 6, followed by the Sun doing the same on June 7.

Lovely Venus always tries to find ways for everyone to get along, but Pluto is a steamroller of a planet, and it isn’t sweet in the least. When these two planets work effectively together, it can result in kinky sex, as well as powerful transformations around self-esteem, interpersonal connection, inner strength, and even cash. When they oppose one another, it becomes difficult (but not impossible!) to take ownership of your shit, which makes for a very brutal energy.

Neptune begins its retrograde on June 18, creating a fantastically whimsical energy around romance and creativity.

Be watchful for envy, manipulation, and bullying during this planetary transit. Bring in a third party to help mediate whatever situations arise. Communication issues will flare up, too, thanks to Mercury’s clash with hazy Neptune, a planet that rules delusion. Cults fascinate you, Scorpio, but steer clear of them this week—even watching a documentary about them could be too much with all the paranoid energy in the air.

The Sun’s clash with Neptune may find you wondering who you even are. Try to remember that who you are is changing all the time, and do some exercise to reconnect with your body, whether it’s through yoga, deep breathing, or a meditation where you send love to each of your body parts. Engaging in spiritual practice is also a fab way to use the energy (but, again Scorpio: No cults!).

Messenger Mercury enters fellow water sign Cancer on June 12, shifting the energy from dark and brooding (which, let’s be honest, is your default) to more broad-minded, philosophical, and adventurous—Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and the Moon never stops changing its face. It’s never stuck in one mode, which is something you can be prone to, little scorpion, so this is a wonderful time to get out of whatever rut you’re in. Mercury in Cancer will inspire you to travel, study, and spread the word about whatever you’re excited about. And your psychic abilities will be boosted, too! News from a faraway place may arrive.

There’s a new moon in Gemini on June 13, which will push you to trust your instincts and intuition. Some dark emotions may come up—if you need to cry it out, make time to do that. With that said, this could also be an amazing time for your sex life, and being that this new moon will also activate the sector of your chart that rules shared resources and finances, including debt, taxes, and inheritances, a fresh start around these themes is possible, too. Channel the energy of Gemini, the sign of the twins, during this new moon, and remember you always have options. Also on June 13, Venus will enter Leo, illuminating the sector of your chart that rules your career and popularity and bringing blessings to your professional life. Some rewards for your hard work are on the way!

Neptune begins its retrograde on June 18, creating a fantastically whimsical energy around romance and creativity; this will be a brilliant time for tapping into your intuition to benefit your love life or your artistic process. Neptune rules our fantasies: What are yours? And what have you been missing out on—or what needs a second look? Communication will flow more easily this week than earlier in the month, thanks to Mercury’s easy connections with Jupiter on June 19 and with Neptune on June 20, which will improve everyone’s communication ability and help you tap into your intuition. Just watch out for exaggerations or for deluded optimism!

The Sun enters Cancer, marking the summer solstice, on June 21. This will put you in an adventurous and playful mood—plus, Venus opposes your ruling planet Mars on the same day, finding you feeling a touch competitive, but also very flirtatious and energized. The mood will turn when Mercury opposes your other ruling planet—power-hungry Pluto—on June 23. We’ve already touched on Pluto’s difficult energy, and the same warnings generally apply here, but especially be on the look-out for people who try to manipulate or hurt you with words, and, again, do your best not to project your shit on to others.

Your ruling planet Mars goes retrograde in Aquarius on June 26, marking the beginning of a summer that’ll be major for you in terms of reworking what home means to you, as well as your relationship with your family and loved ones. You’ll also find yourself reflecting on your emotional boundaries and how your early childhood affected the way you process your feelings today. Later this summer, you’ll reexamine your communication skills and learn how they impact your perception of the world—and, ultimately, how you protect and guard yourself (or how you’re limiting yourself by being unduly defensive). Mars ends its retrograde on August 27, so you’ll have a lot of time to work through all of this.

There’s a full moon in Capricorn on June 28, which will bring you some very important news. Some ongoing conversation you’ve been involved with will reach a climax. Full moons are always emotional and tiring; however, this one will have an especially serious tone, requiring you to be practical and conservative with your energy and your decisions. The next day—June 29—Mercury enters Leo, finding you in communication with the public and reflecting on your reputation. Make wise choices, my little scorpion!

Good luck and see you in July!
