On October 12, 2015, Avon, OH police were called to a roadside fight on Interstate 90 involving Manziel and his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley. Witnesses claim that Manziel was arguing with Crowley, who had attempted to exit the car while it was driving at high speed.

According to a police report, Manziel admitted that he and Crowley had been drinking earlier that day. The officer in the report stated that he did not believe Manziel to be intoxicated. It was the officer's opinion that Crowley was intoxicated. According to the report, Crowley stated that Manziel had hit her "a couple of times" in the car and had pushed her head against the glass of the car. Dash-cam footage showed Crowley telling police that Manziel had hit her more than once and that she was "in fear for [her] life." This is not listed in the police report. Instead, police note that they asked Crowley "if she was fearful of Mr. Manziel's actions and did she think he could cause her physical harm." They listed her response as "no he was fine."

Nobody has been charged. The NFL is currently investigating the incident. In November 2015, Manziel was demoted to third string quarterback after lying to Browns coach Mike Pettine about partying on his bye weekend.

Manziel did not return Broadly's request for comment.
