Broadly: Why do you oppose Trump's immigration restrictions?

Sadia, 22, Toronto: He wants to say that this is not the Muslim ban, but it really is the Muslim ban. There have been talks about making it completely. Right now it's temporary, but he wants to make a permanent Muslim ban. This is his way of allowing this kind of anti-Muslim, anti-refugee, anti-immigration thought into the American people, simply because he spreads hate.

How do the immigrations restrictions impact you or your loved ones?

Not directly. I do have a lot of cousins in America who, when talking to them, they're really afraid, they're really scared, and that kind of feeling affects me too because I was just in America last weekend, and I'm like, I won't be allowed to go back to America or I don't know how this will affect me. It doesn't affect me directly, but the attitude does affect me. I'm not from those seven countries. I'm a Canadian citizen so it doesn't affect me like that, but that anti-Muslim, anti-immigration, anti-marginalized people [sentiment], that shit affects me.

"If I had one thing to say to Trump about these orders, it would be…"

I don't really have anything to say to him, to be honest. I was listening to this podcast by This American Life and literally he's considered by his supporters as the biggest troll ever. There really isn't anything that would help him change his opinion. He really doesn't care. Just a few days ago, he was trying to break ties with Australia, their biggest ally? He's a mess to talk with so I don't have anything to say to him. I have something to say to his supporters though: Just open your eyes, open your heart.
