Gemini, April 2018

The month opens with Mercury, your planetary ruler, retrograde!

Aries season is typically a busy time for you socially. This month, though, your ruling planet Mercury is retrograde, meaning you’re more likely to find yourself reconnecting with your past—your old associations and friend circles—than mingling with new crowds. Is there a dream you had a long time ago that you forgot about? A “one day I will…” that got swept to the side by other whims and obligations? These may come back around for you to focus on now. In general, Mercury retrograde isn’t a great time to start new projects or conversations, but it’s great for finishing old ones.

Again, friends from the past will swing around to say hi (pay attention to who you run into on April 1, when Mercury retrograde meets with the Sun) . Avoid signing contracts, traveling, or making important purchases—technical difficulties, miscommunications, and delays will be in the air. Mercury retrograde finally ends on April 15, and things will move forward then.

Early April is busy for your ruling planet: Mercury clashes with Mars on April 4 and Saturn on April 5. These aren’t easy transits, Gemini! Mars loves to fight and Saturn’s favorite word is no, so you’re sure to face some obstacles on the 5th. As an air sign, you can usually talk your way through life, getting whatever you need though your witty, charming, and logical approach. That may not be the case now; people will be in a shit mood, and misunderstandings will be in the air. Save important conversations for later.

Midmonth, the energy will be electric around connecting with others. There’s a new moon in Aries on April 15, marking the start of a new beginning in your social life, and the Sun meets with Uranus on April 18, finding you running into unusual, eccentric people. People will be taking big risks during this time, too, and you can expect some surprising news. Intellectually, this will be a highly stimulating time—you’re sure to dream up some brilliant ideas! You’ll be in an especially inventive mood, not to mention rebellious and freedom seeking.

The real question to ask at this time is: Do the people you surround yourself with take enough risks? Do the support you as you try to do your own thing? If not, it may indeed be time for you to break free from such limiting social circles.

Taurus season kicks off on April 19, encouraging you to reconnect with your inner voice. This is a wonderful time to practice your psychic abilities and take up meditation. While it’s in Taurus, the Sun will shine a light on feelings you’ve been repressing or unable to confront—this is a good occasion to reach out to someone who can help you process everything. Definitely make time to rest, too. You’re going to be doing a lot of self-exploration, and that’s exhausting as hell.

Venus enters your sign on April 24, which will make you even more charming, flirtatious, and social than you are to begin with. While Venus was in Taurus—starting on March 31— you likely found yourself sleeping in… and possibly even engaging in some secret affairs. But that’ll all be over now! Once Venus enters your sign, you’ll be ready to bring whatever was brewing behind closed doors out to the open. Even if you didn’t have something under cover going on, you likely found yourself feeling shier than usual. That will shift now.

Mercury squares off with Saturn again, on April 25. This time, however, Mercury is direct; while that won’t make its run-in with the grouchiest planet easier, at least you’ll feel like you’re moving forward around issues concerning intimacy and boundaries. Will people be in a good mood today? Probably not—but being in a good mood isn’t required in order to get shit done. Just wait for a different day, when people are feeling more light and optimistic, to ask for a favor or crack a joke.

The month wraps up with a full moon in Scorpio on April 29—a fantastic time for you to transform like a phoenix rising from its ashes. Full moons are times for release, and, I know you have some bad habits, Gemini, like checking your phone nonstop, or maybe even having a cigarette just because you don’t want to feel left out of a conversation among friends at a party.

A shift is likely to take place at work, too, since this full moon will push you to reassess your schedule. If a situation has been building up at work or around any of the daily routines or tasks you take part in, it will reach a climax during this full moon. Scorpio is a sign that’s not afraid of burning a bridge (they think the flames are pretty), but you, Gemini, have a tough time saying goodbye to people or projects once you’ve committed time and energy to them. Be honest with yourself during this full moon, and really ask yourself if you’re investing your energy into the right places.

Good luck this month, Gemini, and see you in May!
