Taurus, October 2015

September was an exhausting month! October brings more changes, but the vibe is way easier to deal with.

In our monthly horoscopes, we provide a more in depth look at what's happening in the sky. If you are not a Taurus and/or don't care about Tauruses, you can read the rest of our monthly horoscopes here.

September was an exhausting month! October brings more changes, but the vibe is way easier to deal with. Your sign might be one of the laziest, but strangely enough, you're also one of the most hardworking—I guess "work hard, play hard" was a saying created by a Taurus. (Whichever Taurus invented it probably dropped the "sleep hard" part because that made it too long). Let's take a look at what October has in store for you:

Venus, your ruling planet, changes signs on October 8. It leaves loud Fire sign Leo for practical, fellow down-to-earth sign Virgo. Venus is the planet of love and wealth, but the last few weeks have been very, very tricky for all things Venusian. You may recall that Venus went retrograde on July 25, causing shake ups around all the Venus-ruled stuff in your life: Love or money might have become major issues for you to reflect on. The retrograde began in Virgo, then dipped into Leo. Venus finally went direct last month on September 6; since then, things have been on an upswing. Venus now reenters Virgo. Now that the retrograde is though, we can finally move forward around all those Venusian and Virgonian themes!

Venus and Virgo is a funny combination—one is a seductress, the other is a virgin. That said, Virgo is an Earth sign, just like you, meaning that Venus in Virgo is a lovely, lucky, easy placement. Venus officially clears its shadow and leaves those bad retrograde vibes behind on October 9, the same day that Mercury in Libra ends its retrograde… wow, that's a lot of forward motion in your life, Taurus! Venus in Virgo, in general, will be awesome for you in terms of boosting your creativity, helping you find inspiration (perhaps in the form of a muse?), flirting, romance, and having sex. Virgo might be a virgin, but, like any good Earth sign, it's all about being physical. Plus, just like any teenager can tell you, just because they haven't "done it" yet doesn't mean they're not thinking about it all the time and dry humping in the woods.

Prior to the Venus retrograde, there may have been something you had taken for granted or didn't understand the value of—or perhaps you overvalued something? Either way, now you might have a clearer idea about where you stand concerning what truly matters to you.

Venus in Virgo will bring plenty of creativity and fuck buddies; however, it can be really frustrating to have huge moods swings with creativity (like, a massively amazing idea, followed by an awesome, productive day of outlining, followed by a week of writers block), or to have a new fuck buddy every night (obviously, this has major plusses, but people—especially you, Taurus—are creatures of habit, and we do long to have some regularity in our relationships, although if you're not one of those people, please kindly excuse this example). Finding regularity in your routine might have proved a little difficult while Mercury was retrograde in the sign of balance, Libra. When it goes direct this month, harmony will likely return to your schedule, and, with Venus clearing its shadow, hopefully the people and projects you want to enjoy on a regular basis will be available to you at last.

There will be a little bit of drama on October 10 when Venus in Virgo (who's all about the little details) squares Saturn in Sagittarius (who really doesn't care for the specifics as long as it gets shit done). This isn't the best day to ask for any favors, dates, forgiveness, or money. People won't really want to share today. If you have any "explaining to do" or any excuses to make about anything, avoid a confrontation about it on this day—whomever you're dealing with will really, really not care about any of the details of why you fucked up. If you're hoping the reasons behind whatever you've got going on will provoke sympathy from anyone you're working with, approach them about it an other day. You'll also see huge roadblock around any changes you're trying to make. In general, Taurus, whatever you want to do, find another day to do it.

The next day, October 11, is much better: Jupiter trines Pluto. Jupiter is currently in Virgo and Pluto's in Capricorn— both of these signs are Earth signs, totally on your wavelength and sending you excellent vibes! Jupiter is the planet of luck and expansion, and Pluto is the planet of power and transformation. We love it when they're working well together! For you, Taurus, this energy may manifest as a boost to your creative or romantic life. You also might go someplace new and/or meet and enjoy time with some powerful people. If you're traveling during this time, you could visit a place that's profoundly transformative. This is definitely a day to go out and see what the world has to offer you. With that said, the vibe today is so lucky that, even if you stay in, something profound and spectacular may come knocking at your door anyway.

The good vibes continue with a New Moon in Libra on October 12, bringing you a fresh start around all the issues you dealt with while Mercury was retrograde in Libra (which happened September 17 through October 9). This New Moon will be especially cleansing around your schedule, your day job, your habits, or even your health. This is a great New Moon to pick up a new health routine under or to try to quit smoking (or to try smoking medicinally, for that matter)! If you want to alter your work schedule to better accommodate both your physical and mental health, now is a great time to do it as well. It's ideal to pursue any way you can make your habits work better for you with the New Moon in the sign of balance and harmony, Libra.

October 16 brings a little bit of confusion, when Venus opposes Neptune in Pisces. Some drama may pop up between your friends and lovers, between your casual acquaintances and your BFFs, or you might face drama in some other iteration of intimate vs. formal. Neptune is the planet of confusion, mists, haze, the ocean, depth, art… it all sound very romantic, right? And Venus is definitely a sucker for romance, key word here being "sucker." Being that Neptune is the planet of illusion and delusion, this often isn't the best combination. You could have plenty of fun on this day, Taurus—it's all up to you. Stay realistic and encourage your friends to do the same. If you find yourself caught up in any shady behavior, call it out. Venus is in Virgo, an energy that likes to keep it real—something you're also quite good at, Taurus! That said, Venus is a sexy energy and Neptune enjoys fantasy. This could be a fantastically sensual day, but, again, keep your wits about you and only spend time with people you trust.

The Sun enters your opposite sign, Scorpio, on October 23. Scorpio rules the genitals, and you're a freak (despite your lazy and stubborn reputation), so surely this will be an enjoyable transit for you. You and Scorpio are very different signs, Taurus. You, lazy cow, luxuriate on spring fields enjoying the Sun's rays, blissful and zen-like. The obsessive, manipulating Scorpio, however, is undergoing constant transformation, shedding its skin, combusting into flames, being reborn as the phoenix. You embody life and peace, Taurus, while Scorpio brings the unknown, death, and transformation. Fuck the pain away, Taurus: Now's the proper time for it. Especially do so when Venus in Virgo meets Jupiter, also in Virgo, on October 25. Jupiter is the planet of luck and growth, so I can only imagine that you will get lucky and see things grow on this day (heart, penises, whatever—it's up to you).

There's a Full Moon in your sign, Taurus, on October 27, bringing major illumination to your relationships and how you see yourself. Have your desires changed? Are you wishing for new partnerships to enter your life? Or are you hoping for a transformation around the way you're perceived? The way you're loved?

October closes with the Sun trine Neptune in Pisces on October 30, and I think you'll find that things click into place around then. Communication in your relationships take on a sweet and caring aura, even if you can't verbalize how you feel, the message will be received.

This last month—actually this whole summer and early bit of fall—have been trying, with your ruling planet, Venus, being retrograde, and Mercury too. You've seen lots of changes and a bit of drudgery the past few months. Thankfully, October ends with Halloween, so party as hard and you've worked, dear cow!
