French law currently prevents single and queer women from access to assisted reproduction, forcing those who seek artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization to travel to other countries to receive it legally. However, a French doctor can be imprisoned for five years and fined 75,000 euros, just for giving a single or queer women the address of a clinic in another country.French artist Émilie Jouvet, whose work highlights the struggles of France's queer community, focuses on the forbidden attempts of LGBTQ women to start their own families in her most recent project.
