You and Gemini are the only two signs with really any right to complain too heavily about Mercury retrograde, for two reasons: One, you're the official complainer of the zodiac, so if you don't complain, the world might spin off course. Two, Mercury is your (and Gemini's) planetary ruler, meaning that its direction effects yours. October opens with Mercury retrograde in Libra—a luxury loving, intellectual Air sign—which will inspire you reconsider, rework, really "re-" anything revolving your finances and valuables.

Finding balance in the material realm is the best way to work with this retrograde. As always with communicator Mercury, the retrograde will bring up old conversations and people from the past. Take advantage of this time to reconnect with others—partnering with people is one of the best ways you can improve and find harmony between your life, your stuff, and the amount of cash flow you have to work with.

Mercury in Libra sextiles Saturn in Sagittarius on October 6, which should make for some very constructive conversations, likely about something you've already thought through or talked about many times. Today, you'll finally come up with a new, concrete way to handle it. Saturn is the planet of responsibility and hard work, so when it's making good vibes with communicator Mercury, we know shit will get done—maybe not the first time, since Mercury's still retrograde, but it will happen at its own, proper pace.

October 6 will also be interesting for other reasons: Mars, in your sign, will oppose Neptune in Pisces, and the Sun in Libra will square Pluto in Capricorn. Action oriented Mars is very practical and patient in Virgo. However, its opposition to Neptune—one of the dreamiest, most artistic planets—in psychic Water sign Pisces may leave you flustered and confused… unless you can embrace today's whimsical energy. Clinging to a realistic game plan will trip you up today. The Sun square with Pluto will be challenging as well: Obsessive, manipulative vibes will be in the air, and unfortunately, this may manifest in your personal life. You might feel this energy anywhere, from the people you collaborate with creatively to people you date. But do remember: If you can rise above manipulative behavior, and if you can use your imagination and let go of a little bit of control, you'll be able to have very supportive conversations today that will help you set up structures that will support you over the long haul.

Venus enters your sign, Virgo, on October 8. The last time Venus was in Virgo was the end of July during its retrograde. Back then, the vibe was extremely critical and grumpy, and you may have felt unattractive and undervalued. A lot has changed since then— the retrograde helped you see a lot of things you were avoiding or simply unaware of this summer. Now, Venus will reenter your sign, ready to do Virgo right— rather than being bitchy, overly critical, and plain mean, Venus in Virgo will boost your sense of beauty, your self-esteem, and your ability to attract and manifest your desires.

The next day, October 9, your ruling planet Mercury goes direct, bringing forward motion to the financial and material issues we previously mentioned; however, don't dive right into spending. Venus in Virgo will square restrictive Saturn in Sag on October 10. This doesn't need to be a bad combination—in fact, it can be super clarifying, showing you were the boundaries lie. That said, the best way to work with this often confining and mopey energy is to be frugal, patient and poised. Saturn's favorite word is no, but Venus's desirous nature stops for nothing. Today will be tense, but you'll survive, especially if you can remember that just because you can't have it today doesn't mean you can't have it tomorrow. That's the trick with Saturn, the planet of time: Be patient, and you can have pretty much anything.

Perhaps the New Moon in Libra on October 12 is when you'll get what you want? New Moons bring new beginnings, and, as we know, Libra's harmonious energy manifests as material goods in your life, Virgo. Constructive conversation will continue the next day, October 13, when your ruling planet Mercury sextiles Saturn in Sagittarius. This conjunction doesn't just involve money, but also any issues having to do with home, family, safety, or privacy. Saturn doesn't have the best reputation among astrologers due to its taskmaster tendencies, but when well aspected, Saturn creates sturdy structures for us to depend on.

October is relatively quiet, especially compared to last month, but some drama does pop up on October 22, when Mercury squares Pluto. Pluto is the control freak of the zodiac, and Mercury's the trickster. The two together is frustrating, to say the least. Expect some power struggles and even some manipulation. Unfortunately, this may pop up in your love life or even in your creative world. This is not the day to hold a meeting about arranging a new practice space with your band or to tell your partner that you're thinking about seeing new people. The vibe isn't completely honest or sincere.

Speaking of shady characters, the Sun enters slinky, sexy, and secretive Water sign Scorpio on October 23. Scorpio occupies the section of the sky that rules your intellect and communications, Virgo. You might be the most analytical sign in the zodiac, and due to the placement of the signs, you owe much of your razor-sharp, borderline psychic mental abilities to the scorpion. Honor your smarts this coming month—solve some puzzles, write some poems, or call your bffs and draw up some contracts.

Mercury in partnership oriented Libra opposes Uranus, the planet of rebellion, in Fire sign Aries on October 25. Mercury in Libra is happy to "talk it out," but Uranus is slightly spastic (and self centered) in independent baby of the zodiac, Aries. That said, Uranus is the planet of genius, and it's said to be the high octave version of Mercury, the planet of logic and communication. On this day, Virgo, please ask yourself: Are you and someone else arguing, not realizing you're both fighting the same side? A Mercury/Uranus opposition is a face off between two super smart planets. Surely some middle ground can be found.

Also on October 25, Venus in Virgo will meet with lucky, abundant Jupiter, also in your sign. Jupiter is a larger-than-life energy, but your sign, Virgo, is a bit of a minimalist. Combined with luxury loving Venus, this meeting in the sign of the humble and hardworking virgin should be a day to remember. Expect loads of attention (which you will probably hate), and plenty of "going overboard" (which you will also hate, but will eventually warm up to). Lots of warm, fuzzy good vibes on the 25—as well as some tense confrontations, but life's better with a little drama, right? The 25th will not be boring.

The Full Moon in Taurus October 27 will bring more deep conversation your way. Full Moons bring things to light, and this one will be major around news, communication, and announcements. If you're hoping to travel or return to school, some culmination around those themes may come up as well.

The month may open with you whining, and I understand— Mercury retrogrades are frustrating for you, Virgo. But the rest of the month isn't so bad. Things are picking up around finances and some deep, interesting conversations will be going on— not to mention some juicy drama!
