This interview is part of Broadly's Voices Against the Ban series. You can read more of these voices here.

Broadly: Why do you oppose Trump's immigration restrictions?

Mahfuzur, 18, New York: America is a nation of immigrants. I'm a son of immigrant parents and I am in support of other immigrants because we built this nation and because of us this nation traveled forward.

How do you feel directly threatened or affected by the ban?

I feel directly threatened because I have some family waiting for their green cards and visas. We have these seven countries right now, but who says they're not going to expand to more just because they have one Muslim? Not just one but the rationale behind this was just so irrational and so extreme.

Anything you'd like to add?

I serve on my local community board and I want you guys to be directly involved in politics yourselves. Go out to your elected officials and see what you can do.

What's the name of the community board you're on?

Community Board 11 Manhattan.
