'Why Are You Doing This?'

This is why I oppose Trump's immigration restrictions.

Broadly: Why do you oppose Trump's immigration ban?

Salma, 20, Canada: Why would you ban these people that have been through so much? I feel like Trump doesn't even understand the concept that these people's homes were taken away from them. For example, in the case of Syrian refugees. I guess my question is: why? It's very pointless, as I said, very confusing. Like, why are you doing this?

Does this impact you and your family or anyone you know?

Me personally, no. I'm from Egypt and I can travel to the US, but many of my friends are Syrian and Iraqi and I can't stand by and just let that happen. For example, my friends and I are supposed to travel to the US this weekend. That's not happening and I wouldn't want to go by myself. At the end of the day, it's hard. I know a friend, for example, who's in med school and she's been in the US for the past four or five years. He went to get married in Abu Dhabi and he can't even enter the US anymore to complete his residency.

"If I could tell Trump one thing about the immigration restrictions, I would say…"

I would say, get with the times, man. It's 2017. We are very much in the height of our progression right now. There's no going back. Making America great? It was never great to begin with to be honest with you.
