Virgo, January 2018

It's Capricorn season: Get ready to party! Your lusty, devilish side will be really highlighted this month.

The New Year opens with a full moon—a super moon, to be exact—in Cancer, which is a sensitive and psychic Water sign. This will find you deep in your emotions, Virgo! Full moons are times for release; you’ll be saying goodbye to some old dreams at the start of this New Year, and making space for new ones.

You’re outgrowing your old visions of your future self. Here you are today, likely having met some of your goals, and likely having missed other ones. You’re letting go of outdated visions of your future now, and with that, you’re likely also letting go of some friendships. Some drama may take place in your social or love life, or around a creative project you’ve been working on.

Your planetary ruler, Mercury, makes a harmonious connection with Uranus, the planet of innovation, on January 6—expect exciting news or some problem solving around a situation concerning your private life, your home, or your intimate relationships. Mars will also meet with Jupiter on this day, pushing a big conversation forward and helping you gain a new perspective on a puzzle you’ve been trying to solve. Going for a long walk around your neighborhood to clear your head and let ideas come to you is a great idea. Being alone works wonders for you, Virgo! After all, you’re ruled by the Hermit card in the tarot. That said, you’re still a Mercury-ruled sign, so if solitude doesn’t deliver the inspiration you need, call a friend and talk things through with them. It’ll a productive day no matter how you take advantage of it, and the news and ideas that arrive will be very helpful.

A cluster of planets will come together in fellow Earth sign Capricorn this month, illuminating the sector of your chart that rules creativity and your love life, making this a very special time of year for you. At the start of this year, the Sun, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto will all be in Cap, and communication planet Mercury joins the bunch on January 11.

Capricorn is a dry, practical sign, but it does have a lusty, sensual, devilish side, too—it’s ruled by the Devil card in the tarot. You, too, have a reputation for being a goody two-shoes “virgin,” obsessed with details and with being perfect, but you (like Capricorn!) are an Earth sign, and Earth signs are tactile, creative, and lusty. You often find yourself itching to get your hands dirty and to create things out of mud—and to roll around in it, too!

Big shifts will take place in your life. Eclipses ask us if we’re on our correct path, and if we’re not, they shake things up and place us back on track toward our destiny.

You’re going to roll around in all kinds of fun, kinky, creative crap this month, especially on January 9 when the Sun meets sweet, sexy Venus, as well as power planet Pluto. Venus will also meet Pluto on this day, and it will make a harmonious connection with Mars. The vibe will be intense and transformative, but also confident and friendly. Expect some power changes to take place, but there’ll be a good vibe in the air. Other days to circle in your calendar for a boost in power and creativity: January 24, when your planet, Mercury, meets Pluto, and January 25, when it meets lucky planet Jupiter.

A new moon in Capricorn arrives on January 16, bringing about a fresh start to your love life and any creative projects you’ve been working on. This is a brilliant time to cast a spell for fertility, creativity, and romance. Surround yourself with images and items that symbolize joy.

You will be ultra focused on serious issues—especially those concerning your home and family—on January 13, when Mercury meets Saturn. If you have important paperwork to do regarding your living situation, this is a good time to get on it. If you’re feeling sluggish or unsure about how to tackle a situation concerning your home, family, or private life, don’t despair: War planet Mars will enter Sagittarius on January 26, which will be beneficial. Don’t slack on your responsibilities, Virgo!

Love-money-and-beauty planet Venus enters cool Aquarius on January 17, and Aquarius season officially kicks off on January 19 when the Sun enters this Air sign. Mercury also enters Aquarius on January 31. What does this mean for you, Virgo? You’ll be busy at work, and if you’re looking for work, this is a fantastic occasion for you to find it. You’ll be tinkering with your schedule, and focused on consolidating the many tasks on your ever-growing to-do list. Fortunately, Aquarius is an inventive sign, so you’re sure to come up with some unexpected way to manage your busy schedule.

With all this hard work, be sure to make time for self-care: Lovely Venus will encourage you to hit up the spa, or at least slap on a face mask. Refocus on your physical health, and find ways to connect with nature—keeping a few houseplants around never hurt any Virgos last time I checked!

Your planetary ruler, Mercury, makes a helpful connection with Neptune on January 19, creating a delightfully whimsical, romantic vibe—perfect for penning a love letter. Make time to connect with others. You’re a very logical, practical person, young virgin, but you’ll be in the mood for poetry and art today. Watch out for an erratic, annoyed vibe on January 28 when Mercury clashes with Uranus. Be mindful of any debts you have to pay off, and of other people’s feelings; the mood will be touchy.

The month closes with not just a super moon, not just a full moon, and not just a blue moon— but an eclipse, too! As if this weren’t dramatic enough, this eclipse takes place in Fire sign Leo, a sign that’s all about theatrics. Big shifts will take place in your life. Eclipses ask us if we’re on our correct path, and if we’re not, they shake things up and place us back on track toward our destiny. The process can be dizzying. Information will come to light. People will be exhausted and emotional, and everything will feel like it’s changing so quickly. And because this eclipse is in Leo, people won’t just be weeping into their sleeves discreetly: They’ll be doing it in full hair and make up, falling over on day beds and wailing at the top of their lungs. Maybe even you will do this!

What will all the fuss be about? You need sleep. You need time off. You need to let go of the past and process the emotional issues you’ve been stuffing away and ignoring. You need to reconnect with your inner voice. Catching up on time alone is crucial now. A break from mundane, everyday life is sorely needed. Give yourself permission to zone out with video games and movies if you need to, and try to connect with nature and with whatever spiritual food feeds your soul. Good luck, Virgo, and see you in February!
